Men Without Partners Who Turn to IVF for Children Should Adopt of Go Childless

I’ve been researching family issues since 1998, and that of straight men turning to in vitro fertilization or surrogacy to have children without a partner is about as rare as they come. But this article wants us to believe that the practice is becoming commonplace (HLN TV, 3/17/15). It’s not. And there are a couple of good reasons why.

In the last four months, National Parents Organization has appeared in media across more than 20 different states with nearly 50 unique media reports, editorials and op-eds.

 

Good News From Virginia

We recently learned that Virginia Governor McAuliffe has appointed National Parents Organization member Christian Paasch to sit on Virginia’s Child Support Guidelines Review Panel. This Panel will make recommendations for revisions to the Virginia Child Support Guidelines — the formula by which child support orders are calculated. Christian is Chairman of the Executive Committee of our Virginia state chapter.

Texas: Man Paid Child Support for 13 Years for Child Not His; Still Owes Arrears

It’s happened again. This time it’s in Houston, but beyond that, the stories of Carnell Alexander in Detroit and Willie Carson look a lot alike. Well, they do except for the ending which, for Carson is considerably happier than is Alexander’s. Here’s the story (My Fox Houston, 3/23/15).

 

Abuse of Power by CPS in Ohio?

The issue of abuse of power by child protection agencies is once more front and center in this case (The Courier, 3/20/15). Some of the background facts of the case aren’t clear, but the upshot of it is. What no one disputes is that Findlay, Ohio mother Teresa Smith’s child was taken from her by local child protective authorities. The child now lives with his father.
