Gilbert Tso Update: Equal Parenting Order! Onerous Child Support
August 18, 2014 by Robert Franklin, Esq.
This is a brief follow-up on the Gilbert Tso case. He’s part of the leadership of the National Parents Organization in Colorado and one of the best advocates for family court reform I know. Here’s my original piece on Tso (NPO, 2/28/14).
Tso’s the dad who lived with his wife and daughter in Illinois. One day he came home to find his wife, Rebecca Murray, moving out with their daughter who was then four. To try to put a stop to her simply absconding with the child, Tso filed for divorce and requested custody. The Illinois court of course refused him custody despite Murray’s clear intention to deprive their daughter of her father.

Arizona: Roberto F. Fights for Five Years, Wins the Right to Parent his Children
August 17, 2014 by Robert Franklin, Esq.
No one will ever nominate Roberto F. for Man of the Year, but as a father, you have to respect him. Here’s the latest on his case (Arizona Daily Star, 8/15/14). What’s newsworthy now is that he successfully stopped the adoption of his two children by their foster parents. Roberto’s parental rights were terminated by an Arizona court and that gave the green light to complete the children’s adoption by their foster parents. Read more...
New York Times Inadvertently Gives Up-Close Look at Single Motherhood
August 15, 2014 by Robert Franklin, Esq.
Here’s a pretty good New York Times article (New York Times, 8/13/14). Although the writer, Jodi Kantor, doesn’t seem to notice, it reveals yet another of the myriad reasons why single parenting is such a bad idea. In the process, it provides an up-close and personal look at the life of a young, poor single mother. Read more...
Surprise! ‘Safeguards’ for Indigent Debtors Ignored by Courts
August 14, 2014 by Robert Franklin, Esq.
I’ve often criticized the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Turner vs. Rogers, the case that held that indigent defendants in child support arrearage cases have no right to a state-appointed attorney when the state is not the opposing party. I’ve done so for several reasons but mostly because the majority, headed by Justice Breyer, engaged in outright fantasy about what “procedural safeguards” a court could put in place that would take the place of a lawyer to represent the defendant facing prison. Daily Kos Blows it on Mothers’ Abuse and Neglect of Children
August 13, 2014 by Robert Franklin, Esq.
The anti-father/anti-male press just can’t seem to stop itself. It shows the unmistakable signs of serious addiction to, among other things, making up “facts” to support anti-father/anti-male points of view for which there are no actual ones. The Daily Kos is one such site that’s in dire need of the intervention of those who care. In case there aren’t any of those, someone with a strong stomach and a high level of resistance to intellectual dishonesty needs to step in. Really, these people are desperate.

Lawyer Disbarred, Sheriff’s Deputies to Prison in Child Custody Scam
August 13, 2014 by Robert Franklin, Esq.
The lengths to which people go to gain an unfair advantage in child custody cases long ago ceased to amaze me. Murder, abduction, perjury, parental alienation, payments of hundreds of thousands of dollars to mental health professionals hired for the sole purpose of training the parent to be evaluated by another MHP, hiring hit men, you name it, someone’s done it just to make sure the other parent doesn’t get to see the child. Volunteer Testimonial
“I am excited to join National Parents Organization as their Military Parent Advocate. Military families are being broken apart because of a lack of understanding in the family law courts. I believe that children benefit from access to both parents, regardless of their military status. I look forward to advocating for legislation that protects military parents against discrimination in child custody determinations.”
